Please join the Harvard Club of Oregon and Southwest Washington in celebrating the Winter concert of the 88th season of the Portland Youth Philharmonic (PYP), the nation’s first youth orchestra and one of the nation’s best.

Cost: $10 per ticket (reserved seats) for Harvard Club ‘dues-paid’ members and their guests.
$15 per ticket (reserved seats) for nonmembers and members of other alumni groups.
PYP has five performing ensembles (three orchestras, chamber orchestra, and wind ensemble) of musicians ranging in age from 9 to 22. Virtually 100% of those students who leave the orchestra after high school go on to college, including a number to Harvard, Yale, other Ivy League schools, Stanford, and additional top schools and music conservatories, b oth in the Northwest and throughout the nation. Some orchestra members pursue careers as music performers, while others go on to a variety of professions and other occupations. The soloist for the Opening Concert, which a number of you attended, Fred Lu, has been accepted Early Action to Harvard and plans to enroll at Harvard in the fall of 2012.
If you have time to socialize before the concert, please join us in a private room at the Porto Terra Restaurant in the nearby Hilton Portland at SW 6th and Taylor, starting at 5:30 PM. Happy Hour rates will apply for food and beverages.. David Hattner, conductor and music director of PYP, will speak to us at 6:15 PM and will be available for questions. Please indicate below the number of people attending the pre-concert event.
PYP is truly one of Portland’s hidden treasures. This is a wonderful occasion to hear a remarkable orchestra. Children are welcome to attend. This is a great opportunity for them to hear performers in their own age groups.
