"LINSANITY" is a fabulous movie about Harvard's famous Jeremy Lin.  Lin is the first Asian-American (who grew up in the US) to play NBA basketball, and he is a Harvard grad to boot.

It is an amazing "against-all-odds" "rags-to-riches" story.  Jeremy has been let go by two NBA teams in 2 weeks, including being let go on Christmas Day.  He's at what is assumed to be his last NBA game.  If he does not do well, he will probably be cut and never play in the NBA again.   Lin becomes the superstar of the game, and leads the New York Knicks to their first victory in a long time.   The next two weeks seem like a miracle.  Jeremy Lin goes from being an unknown to a player at the top of the NBA League in two weeks, breaking records that have stood for 65 years since the beginning of the League.  In the movie, someone asks President Obama how it feels to be replaced by Jeremy Lin as the most famous graduate of Harvard ever.

A comparison between Lin and Obama is apt.  Both had a meteoric rise.  Both started as unknowns, and become superstars virtually overnight, and reached the height of their own profession.

This is a story of moving from despair - of being on the verge of giving up, of resigning oneself to the idea that the Dream, is out-of-reach - to achieving international stardom and one's Dream, against all odds.

The story will be particularly interesting to Harvard alumni, and Ivy alumni.  It talks about Lin utterly "failing" his first two tests (placement tests) at Harvard, in math and Chinese.  Only then does the documentary tell us that his SAT scores were 800 Math, 770 Verbal, and 760 Writing.  It shows what it was like for Lin at Harvard, and the heckling he got at Ivy League games.

The theater has assured me the auditorium has 500 seats and it will be NOT necessary to buy tickets in advance.

Wear your school colors and look for each other.
