Harvard alumni and friends are invited to tour the green co-operatively-governed community Cully Grove with Harvard Graduate School of Design Loeb Fellow'14 Eli Spevak of Orange Splot, LLC who was co-developer and construction manager at Cully Grove. I asked Eli because he has been very creative about shaping intentional communities that have a small carbon footprint and bring people togther around shared values. After walking through the community, we will walk to self-funded lunch at Pizza Jerk at 5028 NE 42nd Ave and optionally Rose's Ice Cream.
From his bio:
"Eli Spevak’s development and general contracting company Orange Splot LLC has pioneered new models of community-oriented, affordable, green housing in Portland, Oregon, through a blend of accessory dwelling units, renovated single family homes, detached bedrooms, refurbished apartments, and new multi-family construction. Before striking out on his own, he worked for over a decade in the nonprofit sector managing the finance and construction of affordable housing. On the side, Spevak engages in policy and advocacy work to remove regulatory & financing barriers to space-efficient housing. He also spreads the word about accessory dwelling units through bike tours of tiny homes and http://www.accessorydwellings.org.
