Join us for talk where Jessica Price, JD, will explore the hot topics of free speech on college campuses, including free speech areas and controversial speakers.
Recent high-profile controversies suggest there is a First Amendment crisis on college campuses nationwide. Overt decisions to restrict controversial speakers, and more subtle efforts to suppress dissent, appear to be regular occurrences at institutions of higher education. In this talk, Jessica will explore the hot topics of free speech on college campuses, including free speech areas and controversial speakers, the right to control curriculum and classroom speech, and the battle over student organization funding and government speech.
Jessica Price, JD is Associate General Counsel for the University of Oregon. Her portfolios include international risk, national security, and free speech. She serves as the primary attorney advising the research and student conduct portfolios at the university. Much of her work has focused on changing federal guidance and executive orders on sponsored research, foreign influence, immigration, and diversity.Ms. Price graduated Yale College in 2004 and received her JD from Harvard Law School. She has been recognized by Poder Magazine's Top 20 Latinos Under 40, California Lawyer's Attorney of the Year, the California legislature for her work on behalf of women and children, and the 2019 University of Oregon Senate's Shared Governance, Transparency, and Trust Award.
