Ivy Wine Tasting at Stem Wine Bar

Thursday, March 7, 5:30-7:30pm @ Stem Wine Bar

-

Join us for the first Ivy Outing — a personal wine tasting experience with the owner of Stem Wine Bar and local Cornell alum, Wei-En Tan! Stem is a gorgeous, elegant wine bar on Mississippi Avenue, a lively street lined with fun restaurants and cute retail stores. Wei-En will guide us through a tasting of 7 wines in an intimate group setting. We’ll begin with a mini-lesson on “how to taste” and we’ll learn about the wines from history and culture to terroir, the effects of climate change and more, all with personalized attention from our sommeliers. The selected wines will run the gamut from classic and elegant French old-world to “funky” and fun new world wines. Depending on the audience, we’ll focus the tasting on sustainable natural wines from around the world, and hope to highlight interesting wine makers at the forefront of their field.

Wei-En Tan, PhD, DipWSET, is a certified sommelier and former hedge fund manager. She’s also a part-time flight instructor focusing on emergency maneuvers and aerobatic competition, and a proud Ivy alum! Past workshop tasting participants include Nike, KPMG, Jones Day, The Real Housewives of NY, Women in Construction, Stanford Alumni PNW, and more.

A typical guided wine tasting is normally $90/person, and for this inaugural Ivy Outing, the discounted price is $65, and young Ivy alumni (under 30) get a further discounted rate of $45. Both rates include gratuity. Capacity is limited.
